Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Grants Coordinator to join our team at Akron Children's Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the pre-awards planning, organization, preparation, assembly and submission of research grant and sponsored projects applications to private and public funding agencies and industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Grant Development: Provides guidance and support to investigators in the identification and development of grant opportunities.
  • Grant Coordination: Coordinates with Principal Investigators (PI) and staff on grant development activities; establishes and maintains contact with the funding agency representative and conducts funding opportunity research.
  • Grant Compliance: Interacts with investigators and administrative staff to ensure that grants are in compliance with regulatory, funding agency, and policy requirements.
  • Communication: Interacts effectively with Institute leadership and staff, principal investigators, study teams, hospital staff and external organizations.
  • Financial Management: Collaborates with the financial coordinator, billing coordinator and accounting to ensure conformity and compliance with all aspects of study financial management.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or business required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years grants and sponsored research experience in health or academic setting required.
  • Technical Expertise: Ability to understand complex medical principles, practices and techniques and appropriate use of medical terminology a must. Proficiency in MS Office or similar software is required. Experience with grant/financial/study management reporting packages required.
