Position Overview:

This full-time role encompasses a commitment of 40 hours per week, operating Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, in a hybrid work environment (2-3 days per week in-office).

Role Summary:
This position is integral to the analysis and interpretation of grant agreements, overseeing accounting and reporting functions essential for the financial stewardship of sponsored initiatives. The incumbent will hold delegated authority to review and authorize invoices, financial statements, and related documentation, ensuring effective fiscal management of grants and sponsored projects.

The role involves providing expert guidance to faculty, researchers, and administrative units on financial, administrative, and fiscal policy matters throughout the lifecycle of sponsored projects. Collaboration with Principal Investigators, departmental staff, and funding agencies is crucial for the successful administration of grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a portfolio of awarded sponsored programs for Akron Children's Hospital Rebecca D. Considine Research Institute.
  • Facilitate project initiation meetings for newly awarded programs and maintain regular communication with faculty to review expenditures and develop financial forecasts.
  • Compile annual and project closeout financial reports in accordance with sponsor requirements.
  • Assist in monthly account reconciliations, manage vendor invoices, purchase orders, and cost transfers across multiple awards. Adjust grant budgets as needed.
  • Establish and maintain payroll allocation records for faculty and staff involved in grants within assigned portfolios.
  • Process grant modification requests as necessary.
  • Provide technical and administrative support to faculty and administrators regarding sponsor regulations.
  • Ensure comprehensive and accurate documentation for grants within the assigned portfolio.
  • Occasionally assist in managing the grant submission process, including completing forms, drafting correspondence, and reviewing proposals for compliance with relevant guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-depth understanding of Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (2 CFR Part 200).
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in office software, particularly Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Experience with Cayuse is advantageous.
  • A strong desire for continuous learning and improvement.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

This position reports to the Research Operations Manager and operates within a hybrid work setting utilizing online collaboration tools.
