Job Title: Controls Technician

Join the Indianapolis Zoo team as a Controls Technician, responsible for maintaining and optimizing the zoo's life support and HVAC systems. This is a full-time position that requires flexibility in scheduled hours and may demand 24/7 on-call availability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the Building Automation/ Controls System, utilizing pneumatic, electric, and electronic controls.
  • Work with the Life Support Manager, Facilities Manager, and Director of Facilities to maintain and optimize the Life Support and HVAC systems.
  • Provide training to staff on the operation and use of the Building Automation System.
  • Develop and maintain a documented emergency response protocol.
  • Collaborate with the Water Quality Specialist to properly maintain, calibrate, and repair the water quality sensing equipment.
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of experience in commercial or industrial automation systems and building controls.
  • Knowledge of PLCs and/or Honeywell controllers (XL10, XL50, XL500, XL800 and CPO).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Indiana driver's license and a driving record that is insurable by the Zoo's insurance provider.
