Position Summary

As a Seasonal Event Supervisor, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional service to guests, ensuring that all aspects of banquet operations run smoothly. You will oversee the banquet team throughout the entire event process, from setup to teardown.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify all room arrangements prior to events.
  • Collaborate with the Banquet Chef to confirm food quantities and timing.
  • Inspect all necessary dining items, including china, glassware, and linens.
  • Communicate specific requirements for buffets and receptions to staff.
  • Assess staffing needs for upcoming events and manage inventory requirements.

Pre-Event Coordination

Conduct pre-event meetings to ensure that staff hygiene and appearance standards are upheld. Assign stations and partners to team members and review banquet event orders.

Maintain open communication with the event planner to ensure all requirements are met and to address any last-minute changes.

Stay informed about upcoming groups and major conventions for the next 90 days. Review daily work functions and familiarize yourself with assigned banquet menus.

Quality Assurance

During events, randomly select tables to assess food quality and service standards. Ensure that food is served at the correct temperature and that the presentation meets expectations. For receptions, monitor food availability and identify upselling opportunities.

Attendance and Compliance

Regular attendance is crucial for the successful execution of this role. Employees are expected to adhere to established attendance standards, and those with irregular attendance may face disciplinary action.

Employees must comply with all operational rules and regulations to ensure a safe and effective working environment.

Supportive Duties

In addition to the essential functions, you may be required to:
  • Handle all equipment properly, ensuring correct storage after use.
  • Inform the Chef of headcounts promptly after seating.
  • Recommend maintenance and repairs to the Director of Engineering.

Qualifications

Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience
1-2 years of prior experience in banquet services is required, with supervisory experience preferred.

Certifications
Valid Food Handlers Card and TIPS certification are required.

Grooming Standards
All employees must maintain a neat and professional appearance as per company standards.

Physical Requirements

Most tasks are performed indoors in a controlled environment. The role requires the ability to sit for extended periods, as well as walk and stand for the remainder of the shift. Employees must be able to lift up to 40 lbs regularly and maneuver equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. Manual dexterity is necessary for operating office equipment.
