POSITION SUMMARY
The Science Olympiad Practice Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Science Olympiad Program practices for three middle schools and two high schools within the Carlsbad Unified School District. This position will be the supervisor for each practice session, assisting coaches with practice materials, ensuring student safety and security guidelines are followed, and communicating with staff, students, and parents. The position's responsibilities must be performed in accordance with city, state, federal and Company policy.

WEEKDAY / EVENING / PART-TIME POSITION

This position is employed from October - March. The position will have an estimated 10-15 hours per week. Hours will be varied and conducted in the evenings from 4:00-8:00 pm on weekdays.


SCIENCE OLYMPIAD ON-SITE SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as Manager on duty for all Science Olympiad practices, on Viasat or CUSD campus, ensuring students are in the correct location and supervised until departure
  • Record student attendance
  • Rotate between each event practice ensuring safety and security guidelines are followed and coaches receive proper support
  • Escort individuals around the Viasat campus under Viasat's security guidelines, including visitor badges/stickers for all non-Viasat employees
  • Prepare and distribute event supplies for coaches as needed
  • Attend informational meetings throughout the season
  • Maintain regular communication with the Viasat Security and Science Olympiad Coordinator
  • Prepare event kits and materials for the Regional Competition
  • Attend the Science Olympiad Regional Competition (February or March
  • Monitor supply stock and report any depleted inventory.
  • Keep Science Olympiad space(s) clean and organized
  • Other work duties as assigned by management


EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
• Experience with youth in an educational environment
• Experience with the Science Olympiad Program preferred.
• Experience in the STEM field is highly preferable.

KNOWLEDGE
• Basic computer skills, including internet use, E-mail, and typing skills
• Working knowledge of communication systems such as phone, messaging, and printing systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Drive.
