Position Overview

The Senior Capital Projects Engineer plays a crucial role in executing initiatives that align with organizational goals, transforming these goals into actionable project objectives.

This position involves collaboration with management and site leaders as the steward of the long-term capital strategy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Guiding manufacturing teams and suppliers in selecting process equipment for capital projects while providing essential engineering support.
  • Developing and executing Project Quality Plans, ensuring compliance through audits of work processes and deliverables to meet established quality standards.
  • Engaging regularly with the project steering committee to maintain alignment with business objectives, seek functional guidance, request staffing assistance, resolve issues, and provide project status updates.
  • Refining and overseeing the decision-making process for capital project selection.
  • Ensuring adherence to the Front-End Loading (FEL) process, guaranteeing that all necessary deliverables are completed to a high standard, and leading project gate reviews.
  • Facilitating the identification of non-capital alternatives or cost-effective options, assessing scope variations, conducting risk assessments, and formulating mitigation strategies.
  • Upholding excellence in compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM), Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) standards, and other core operational principles.
  • Conducting economic assessments, preparing funding proposals, forecasting capital and operational expenditures, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • For smaller initiatives, acting as the principal project engineer to ensure adherence to engineering protocols, collaborating closely with engineering teams and contractors.
  • Coordinating site personnel for the commissioning and start-up of new facilities, including training, updating procedures, and aligning schedules with operational needs.
  • Defining and evaluating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure project performance meets expectations, and communicating outcomes to the steering committee and relevant leaders.
  • Managing overall project budgets, cash flow, and timelines to meet business requirements in partnership with site leadership.
  • Overseeing project modifications and driving best practices for capital project execution.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required, with a preference for Chemical or Mechanical disciplines.
  • Professional Engineering license and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is desirable.
  • Experience in the Dairy or Food industry is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in software applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Project; CAD experience is a plus.
  • Proven track record in managing capital projects effectively.

Salary Range: $89,000 - $133,700.00
