Job Overview

Position Objective: The Multifamily Community IT Specialist will focus on the technology frameworks and services within our residential communities, ensuring their efficiency and reliability. This role encompasses various community technologies, including smart home systems, managed wireless networks, security measures, surveillance systems, package management solutions, digital displays, and ambient music systems. The specialist will collaborate with community teams to manage all technical requirements during transitions and renovations. This individual will also partner with other IT team members to guarantee the seamless delivery and support of all community technology services.

Key Responsibilities: The following list of primary job responsibilities is not exhaustive and may be adjusted as necessary.

  • Oversee the installation, upgrades, and maintenance of technology systems and services within our residential communities, ensuring thorough documentation and operational integrity.
  • Continuously monitor technology systems and services, collaborating with vendors to rectify or modify systems to achieve measurable enhancements in performance and assume accountability for system uptime.
  • Maintain comprehensive inventory records, including warranty details and essential support contacts.
  • Engage with team members daily to provide technical insights and expertise, while enhancing existing IT knowledge and skills.
  • Develop, implement, and uphold standards and procedures for the design and configuration of technology systems and services within our residential communities.
  • Create and maintain documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintenance schedules, network schematics, and configuration standards.
  • Conduct and oversee scheduled maintenance for system upgrades and updates that cannot be performed during standard business hours.
  • Evaluate the current technological landscape and investigate new technologies to propose future implementations that align with business objectives.
  • Take ownership of support tickets, working to resolve issues promptly and providing clear steps to prevent future occurrences.
  • Work independently as necessary to identify issues in support processes and present solutions while adhering to established change control protocols.
  • Travel to various community locations as required.

Qualifications and Skills: The candidate must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related fields required, or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in an IT environment or equivalent educational background.
  • Strong working knowledge of technology systems and services utilized in multifamily communities, including but not limited to surveillance systems, audio-visual technologies, and access control systems for ongoing support, design advice, and deployment oversight.
  • Familiarity with networking equipment such as switches, routers, firewalls, and LAN & WAN technologies, along with network diagnostics and monitoring techniques.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications systems, including their support, design, and deployment.
  • Experience with wireless technology deployment, including centralized and standalone designs, authentication technologies, and authorization methods.
  • Proficiency with system, network, and performance management tools for event and fault isolation, as well as resource optimization.
  • Demonstrated strong communication and decision-making skills while effectively prioritizing and managing time spent on work activities.
  • A highly motivated team player with a positive attitude who can learn quickly and demonstrates excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to troubleshoot various issues over the phone in a fast-paced, dynamic IT environment within a principled and success-oriented organization.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain complete and accurate records of all changes.
