Position Overview:
As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a crucial role in delivering direct, non-invasive patient care and support services in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Your responsibilities will include interviewing patients, taking vital signs, and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs). You will also be responsible for maintaining supplies and equipment, transporting patients, and supporting the orientation of new staff members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Observation: Monitor patients to ensure their safety and well-being, reporting any observations to the Charge Nurse or designated personnel.
  • Basic Patient Care: Record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure, and intake-output measurements.
  • Assistance with Daily Living: Aid patients with meals, mobility, hygiene, linen changes, and toileting as directed.
  • Therapeutic Care: Maintain the therapeutic care plan and provide minute-to-minute care for patients at high risk.
  • Documentation: Complete necessary documentation in the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Skill Development: Engage in professional growth through educational programs, literature review, and workshops.
  • Patient Safety: Adhere to safety policies and proactively seek opportunities to enhance patient safety.
  • Environmental Safety: Identify and report conditions that may pose risks to patients.
  • Patient Engagement: Encourage patients to participate actively in their care by addressing any concerns or questions they may have.

Qualifications:
Education:
Essential: High School diploma or GED equivalent. Certification in Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMTB) is required.

Experience:
Essential: 6 months of patient care experience. Bilingual skills in English and Spanish or other languages are a plus.

Credentials:
Essential: CPR for Healthcare Providers or Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of employment.

Physical Requirements:
Heavy work involving exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or individuals.

Working Conditions:
Exposure to hazardous materials requiring personal protective equipment (PPE) and limited access to medication rooms.
