Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our Medical Surgical team at Lovelace Medical Center. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the delivery of care in a safe and healing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work in partnership with the registered nurse to support the delivery of care and promote a safe patient environment.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Document patient data and report observations and concerns to the registered nurse in a timely manner.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of patient observations and interventions in the medical record.
  • Respond promptly to patient call lights and provide basic patient transport.
  • Assist patients with mobility and basic tasks, such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other activities of daily living.
  • Collect specimens for lab tests and maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for patients and staff.
  • Participate in Purposeful Hourly Rounding and Bedside Shift Report as directed.
  • Perform direct and indirect patient care duties as assigned and provide clerical support to the assigned unit.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire or transfer into position
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year experience in acute or long-term care
  • Completion of approved CNA, PCT, or paramedic (EMT-P) certification which includes BLS, or currently enrolled in nursing school
  • Experience in Phlebotomy or completion of a Phlebotomy course
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
