Overview:


ASM International is on the lookout for a seasoned Process Engineer to enhance our Process Engineering division, focusing on innovative designs for clients aiming to produce more sustainable and efficient products.

This pivotal position will involve leading and supporting the design, commissioning, and operational management of both new and existing processes for our clients.

The role will be situated in a dynamic office environment.

The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in the design, operation, and/or construction of processes within the Agrifood and/or Bioindustrial sectors.

The level of the position will be determined based on relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities:


Take charge of and assist in the engineering design of processes for client projects that encompass unit operations such as fermentation, centrifugation, membrane filtration, liquid processing, extraction, powder handling, and packaging.

Develop both preliminary and detailed designs, including drawings and specifications such as PFDs, P&IDs, mass and heat balances, etc.
Conduct thorough reviews of engineering designs, test plans, and risk assessments.

Ensure that projects are executed in alignment with the agreed scope and timelines, providing pertinent recommendations to clients.

Collaborate effectively as part of multi-disciplinary design teams.
Lead project team meetings and offer technical guidance.
Oversee the timely completion of tasks according to plan without direct supervision.
Provide discipline-specific insights for bid packages and tenders.
Propose, contribute to, and advocate for initiatives aimed at enhancing the operations and procedures of the Engineering Department.
Perform data analysis, prepare technical reports, SOPs, and both internal and external presentations.

Essential Qualifications:
A degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields.

A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in process design for facilities in bioindustrial, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, or other relevant sectors.

Design experience should encompass tech transfer, front-end loading (FEL), front-end engineering design (FEED), and/or Detailed Engineering.
Willingness to travel to external manufacturing sites as required.

Knowledge of industry standards for hygienic design of piping systems and equipment (e.g., ASME BPE, 3-A, and EHEDG) including CIP and SIP design.

Ability to exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for achieving results.
Strong leadership, relationship management, organizational planning, and project management skills, complemented by technical expertise.

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with HACCP standards.
Understanding of process safety management (PSM) and process hazard analysis (PHA).
Experience with process modeling tools (e.g., SuperPro, SchedulePro, ASPEN Plus).
Prior experience in the start-up and commissioning of facilities.
Experience in the design of unit operations including fermentation, CIP/SIP systems, membrane filtration, and centrifugation.

Salary range:
$115,000-$150,000

Compensatory PTO for hours worked above forty per week.
The mentioned salary range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this position.

Individual annual salaries will be determined within the job's compensation range, considering factors such as market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
