Job Summary

Hearst Television Inc. is seeking an experienced Newscast and Technical Director to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of live newscasts, working closely with producers and production staff to ensure seamless execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Direction: Utilize Ignite to direct and technical direct broadcast newscasts, ensuring a clean and polished technical execution.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the newscast producer and production crew to provide creative input and ensure a cohesive look and feel for the newscast.
  • Supervision: Supervise technical staff, including studio operators and engineers, to ensure efficient and effective execution of live newscasts.
  • Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot technical issues and develop creative solutions to ensure the newscast goes on air as scheduled.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate audio, playback, cameras, and TelePrompTer equipment for live news broadcasts.
Requirements
  • Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience with production switchers, video servers, audio, and studio equipment.
  • Automation Experience: Experience with automation systems, preferably GrassValley Ignite.
  • Switcher Experience: Experience with a Sony MVS 8000G production switcher.
  • Graphics and Video Playback: Experience with ENPS, VIZRT graphics, and Bitcentral video playback.
  • Robotics and Networking: Experience with robotic cameras and basic computer network understanding.
  • Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Ability to think critically and develop creative solutions to technical issues.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with producers, production staff, and technical teams.
