Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Production Assistant to join our team at Hearst Television. As a key member of our production crew, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of live broadcasts and post-production activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Camera Operation: Safely operate cameras and studio floor directing equipment to capture high-quality footage.
  • Set and Prop Management: Move and handle props and sets during productions, ensuring timely and efficient setup and teardown.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, installation, and operation of production equipment, including cameras, prompters, sets, and lighting.
  • Lighting and Script Preparation: Assist in lighting and script preparation for newscasts, ensuring accurate and timely execution.
  • Studio Maintenance: Maintain the appearance of studios, including cleaning of sets and floors, to ensure a professional and safe working environment.
  • Lighting Grid and Control Board: Understand and maintain the lighting grid and control board, ensuring optimal lighting conditions for broadcasts.
  • Editing and Post-Production: Edit syndicated promos for air and web content using Adobe Premiere, ensuring high-quality and engaging content.
  • Director Support: Assist directors in the planning and execution of live broadcasts and post-production activities.
Requirements:
  • Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of television newscast equipment and software, including videography and editing experience.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to deal with the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production, thinking critically and creatively to resolve issues.
  • Teamwork: Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
