Position Summary:

The IT Support Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering technical assistance and support to end-users within the organization. This position entails diagnosing hardware and software challenges, managing user accounts, and ensuring the seamless operation of IT systems. The IT Support Specialist will engage with employees across all levels and may provide training and support during the rollout of new systems or updates.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Assistance:

  • Address technical support requests through various channels, including phone, email, and in-person interactions.
  • Identify and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Offer support for multiple operating systems, such as Windows, macOS, and Linux.
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and upkeep of computer systems, software, and peripherals.

User Account Management:

  • Create, modify, and oversee user accounts in Active Directory and other systems.
  • Establish and maintain user email accounts and access permissions.
  • Provide training and support to users regarding IT best practices and software applications.

System Oversight:

  • Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks.
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including system backups, patch management, and updates.
  • Assist in deploying new hardware and software solutions.

Documentation:

  • Keep accurate records of IT support requests and their resolutions.
  • Develop and revise technical documentation, including user manuals and FAQs.
  • Track and analyze IT support metrics to identify trends and areas for enhancement.

Security Management:

  • Implement and uphold IT security policies and procedures.
  • Assist in managing antivirus software and firewalls.
  • Respond to security incidents and support disaster recovery initiatives.

Project Collaboration:

  • Work alongside the IT team on various projects, including system upgrades, network installations, and software deployments.
  • Provide insights and support for improvements to IT infrastructure.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in a technical support or IT helpdesk role.
  • Familiarity with various operating systems, networking protocols, and hardware components.

Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Customer-service oriented with a focus on user satisfaction.

Certifications:

  • CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Client, or other relevant certifications (preferred).
