Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Second Cook to join our culinary team at Yale New Haven Health. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of menu items to meet the high standards of our patients, employees, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Cooking: Prepare, season, and cook meats, fish, poultry, vegetables, and other menu items under the direction of the Production Manager and/or First Cook.
  • Resource Management: Plan and organize resources to achieve effective nutritional care, ensuring that all foods prepared meet existing standards for quality, freshness, taste, and appearance.
  • Sanitation and Safety: Ensure that required sanitary levels are maintained throughout the food preparation process, and that all equipment and utensils are inspected and maintained for cleanliness, sanitation, and proper operation.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the culinary team to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit, and perform other duties as assigned or directed.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience: Sufficient previous experience in large-scale food preparation.
  • Skills: Able to read, write, and speak English; able to perform simple mathematical calculations, additions, subtractions, multiplications, and divisions.
