Job Opportunity: Sous Chef

We are seeking a highly skilled Sous Chef to join our team at Porter House Bar and Grill, a renowned steak and seafood destination restaurant in New York City.

The successful candidate will work closely with our Executive Chef to manage daily kitchen operations, including lunch and dinner service, private banquets, and training and development of our line cooks. Additionally, the Sous Chef will be responsible for ordering and inventory management, ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency in our kitchen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Chef in planning and executing menu development, inventory management, and kitchen operations.
  • Supervise and train line cooks to ensure high-quality food preparation and presentation.
  • Manage kitchen inventory, ordering, and receiving to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop and implement kitchen policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2-4 years of prior fine dining or high-volume production experience.
  • Prior NYC experience preferred.
  • Prior line or entry-level sous chef experience required.
