Job Overview

Stamford Health Medical Group is seeking a Chief Financial Officer.

This is a Hybrid Position. Candidates must reside in the Tristate Area CT, NY, & NJ.

Stamford Health Medical Group (SHMG) operates as a multispecialty medical entity, integrated with Stamford Hospital and the broader Stamford Health network. Our mission is to deliver a comprehensive range of medical services to our community with compassion and expertise.

This role, reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance, encompasses the responsibilities of financial reporting, strategic budgeting, capital allocation, and the financial management of both established and emerging physician practice groups affiliated with SHMG. The Chief Financial Officer will provide executive leadership and strategic financial direction to ensure alignment with the organization’s business objectives. A primary focus will be on enhancing the quality of financial oversight across the organization, including the development of insightful reports and recommendations for the senior management team.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Deliver comprehensive financial leadership and guidance in collaboration with the SH Finance Department.
  2. Provide monthly updates to the Vice President of Finance regarding the organization’s financial status and address identified issues through thorough analysis.
  3. Oversee the development of budgets and financial reports at both enterprise and departmental levels.
  4. Manage physician compensation structures.
  5. Continuously assess financial implications of current and proposed initiatives, resource allocation, return on investment, and breakeven analyses, while collaborating with Directors and practice management to establish achievable financial benchmarks.
  6. Create and refine a financial dashboard for executive leadership and the SHMG Board of Directors.
  7. Conduct tailored financial analyses for new operational projects or challenges.
  8. Exhibit a strong understanding of Relative Value Unit (RVU) calculations.
  9. Act as the financial representative, overseeing all strategic and tactical matters related to budget management, cost analysis, and forecasting.
  10. Propose actionable recommendations based on evidence-based financial analysis and engage with external entities such as auditors.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or a related discipline is required.
  • CPA designation is highly preferred.
  • A Master's degree in finance or an MBA is strongly preferred.
  • Ten to fifteen years of relevant experience is required, including five to eight years in a financial leadership role within a healthcare system.
  • Ability to make informed decisions requiring advanced judgment.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly MS Office, with a strong emphasis on data and statistical analysis using Microsoft Excel.
