Job Summary

The Surgical Scheduling Coordinator I-Cardiovascular plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of cardiovascular surgeries and procedures. This position is responsible for scheduling inpatient and ambulatory surgeries, as well as follow-up appointments for patients. The coordinator must obtain pre-authorizations for procedures and diagnostic tests as requested by physicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate all OR surgeries and procedures, ensuring timely and efficient scheduling.
  • Verify patient demographics and obtain pre-certification from insurance carriers for all OR surgeries and procedures.
  • Record hospital reservation and pre-admit data in the prevailing institutional system.
  • Arrange patient pre-testing with appropriate departments and obtain patient medical clearance.
  • Place surgical confirmation calls in advance of scheduled surgery or procedure dates.
  • Serve as a liaison between referring physicians and surgeons for communication of clinical data and OR scheduling.
  • Collect and distribute appropriate paperwork to internal and external parties to coordinate surgeries.
  • Schedule post-operative follow-up visits with providers.
Requirements
  • High School diploma; Associates Degree preferred.
  • 2 years of surgical scheduling experience.
  • Certificate in Medical Terminology preferred.
  • Certificate in ICD-9 and CPT Coding preferred.
