Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Dal Industries, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Mechanic to join our growing team. This position involves engaging in the routine maintenance and repair of a diverse range of machinery and equipment. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with fellow mechanics and clients to ensure optimal productivity while adhering to company standards and fostering a positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive training on company-specific machinery, including RGN Trailers, Landoll Trailers, Heavy Haul Tractors, and various forklifts.
- Conduct maintenance and repairs on a fleet of Versa-Lifts.
- Coordinate with management to plan and execute regular maintenance schedules.
- Perform servicing on Trucks and Trailers, including RGN, Flatbed, and Landoll types.
- Execute preventive maintenance inspections and servicing on all equipment.
- Lead safety training initiatives and promote a culture of responsibility within the team.
- Document and report on damaged or worn parts, creating accurate repair orders.
- Utilize technology and software to track work performed and ensure repair accuracy.
- Conduct annual certifications and DOT inspections as required.
- Efficiently schedule equipment to ensure timely job completion.
- Perform inspections of rental equipment during check-in and check-out processes.
- Diagnose and address unexpected machinery breakdowns.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of shop areas, tools, and supplies.
- Assist teammates with local deliveries and equipment returns as necessary.
Qualifications:
- CDL-Class A license with at least one year of verifiable experience, preferably in heavy haul.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Pass a DOT Drug test and agree to a background check.
- Basic computer skills are essential.
The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical skills, the ability to follow directions, and a willingness to mentor other team members. A solid understanding of equipment operation and maintenance procedures is crucial.
Preferred Skills:
- Training in Detroit and Cummins systems.
- Experience with Class 8 Truck and Trailer Maintenance.
- Knowledge of automotive diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Computer Diagnostics OBD II and J19 connections.
- Experience in LP and Forklift Operations.
