POSITION OVERVIEW

The role of a Service Equipment Specialist is vital to our operations. Heatec, Inc. provides equipment solutions globally, and our specialists are tasked with servicing clients within their designated regions while also traveling as needed to fulfill customer requirements.

A Service Equipment Specialist conducts thorough diagnostic assessments and addresses customer concerns to rectify any equipment performance challenges, ensuring that machinery is restored to optimal functionality under the guidance of the Service Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Engage with clients to discuss equipment performance issues and estimated repair timelines.
  • Educate client personnel on the proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Monitor and listen to mechanical devices in operation to identify sources of malfunction.
  • Establish and execute tests under operational conditions to enhance performance and other factors.
  • Organize work procedures effectively.
  • Dismantle machinery to access and replace faulty components.
  • Inspect parts for defects and assess changes in dimensional specifications.
  • Adjust functional components and control instruments as necessary.
  • Perform on-site welding and fabrication when required.
  • Repair, refurbish, or substitute defective components.
  • Install specialized functional and structural components in machinery.
  • Maintain and lubricate parts to ensure smooth operation.
  • Initiate machinery to verify performance standards.
  • Order necessary parts for machinery repairs as needed.
  • Provide technical assistance to clients via phone and coordinate with the Parts Department for timely part shipments.
  • May oversee and guide the work of client employees.
  • Compile comprehensive and accurate service reports for submission to the service department.
  • Participate in trade shows as required.
  • Maintain a clean, well-organized, and safe vehicle.
  • Submit weekly expense reports, ensuring no report is older than thirty (30) days.
  • Promote a positive company image through professional interactions with colleagues, clients, and management.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Document tasks as required.
  • Adhere to supervisor directives when necessary.
  • Support all company policies and procedures, emphasizing safety operations.
  • Follow safety protocols consistently.
  • Utilize personal protective equipment as mandated.
  • Maintain a clean work area daily.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY ROLE

This position does not entail supervisory responsibilities.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Experience
  • Minimum of one (1) year in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining heavy construction machinery.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical expertise.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
Education
  • No specific educational requirements.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Service Equipment Specialist I: Must meet minimum qualifications and become familiar with the responsibilities outlined in the job description.

Service Equipment Specialist II: In addition to the qualifications of Specialist I, must demonstrate the ability to diagnose and repair at least one (1) type of heavy road construction equipment within Heatec's product line, consistently meeting quality standards and deadlines.

Service Equipment Specialist III: As with Specialist II, plus the ability to diagnose and repair a variety of heavy road construction equipment within Heatec's product line, consistently completing all duties within specified deadlines.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years old.
  • Pre-employment drug screening, physical examination, and background check required.
  • Dependability is essential.
  • Must provide all necessary tools for repairing electrical and mechanical systems on heavy equipment.
  • Willingness to be on call as needed.
  • Willingness to undergo training as required.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours when necessary.
  • Extensive travel may be required.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle safely.
  • Required to maintain appropriate liability insurance coverage for personal vehicles used for company business.
  • Ability to obtain a passport if necessary.
PREFERENCES
  • Experience with welding, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Background in the asphalt industry or heavy road construction machinery.
  • Familiarity with metric measurements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee must regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds, utilizing lifting devices or requesting assistance for anything over 35 pounds.

Regularly required to ascend/descend and work at various heights.

Ability to travel by land and/or air for extended periods.

Ability to perform service work at any time without assistance if necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to road construction sites and occasionally to a manufacturing environment, office setting, and trade show environment.

Office exposures include regular telephone and computer use. The noise level in the office and trade show environments is usually moderate.

Manufacturing environment exposures include moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools, heights, vibrations, fumes, and the risk of electric shock. The employee may occasionally work in high places and be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, and temperature extremes. The noise level in the manufacturing area can be loud and may require hearing protection.

Road construction site exposures include climate conditions specific to the geographic location and season. Field duties require working in close proximity to heavy roadbuilding equipment and traffic. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and may encounter various hazards.

Overnight and weekly travel is common, with occasional extended travel to remote locations required.
