Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Dal Industries, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Co-Mechanic to join our expanding team within the specialized transportation and equipment rental sector. The selected candidate will engage in the systematic maintenance and repair of a diverse range of machinery.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Mechanic will collaborate with fellow technicians and clients to optimize productivity while adhering to quality standards and company policies. The role includes:
- Training on proprietary equipment, including RGN Trailers, Landoll Trailers, Heavy Haul Tractors, and various forklifts.
- Conducting routine maintenance and repairs on a fleet of Versa-Lifts.
- Coordinating with management to schedule regular service for machinery.
- Performing preventive maintenance inspections and servicing of trucks and trailers.
- Implementing safety training initiatives and fostering a culture of accountability.
- Documenting and reporting on damaged or worn components, creating precise repair orders.
- Utilizing technology and software for accurate documentation of work performed.
- Executing annual certifications and DOT inspections.
- Efficiently scheduling equipment to ensure timely job completion.
- Conducting inspections of rental equipment during check-in and check-out processes.
- Diagnosing unexpected machinery breakdowns.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of shop areas, tools, and supplies.
- Assisting teammates with local deliveries and returns as needed.
Typical working hours are scheduled between 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday, with potential weekend work as required.
QualificationsApplicants must possess:
- CDL-Class A license with at least one year of verifiable experience, preferably in heavy haul.
- A clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a DOT drug test and consent to a background check.
- Basic computer skills.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to follow detailed instructions. A willingness to mentor and develop the skills of fellow team members is essential.
Preferred SkillsWhile not mandatory, the following skills and training are advantageous:
- Technical training in Detroit and Cummins systems.
- Experience in Class 8 truck and trailer maintenance.
- Automotive diagnostics and troubleshooting expertise.
- Familiarity with computer diagnostics, including OBD II and J19 connections.
- Knowledge of LP and forklift operations.
