Administrative Assistant

The Internal Revenue Service is seeking a highly skilled Administrative Assistant to join our team. This is a 12-month register position that offers excellent opportunities for growth and development.
Responsibilities- Provide administrative support to managers and staff members, including receiving and reviewing incoming mail and correspondence, referring only what requires personal attention, and determining deadlines for controlled correspondence.
- Serve as a liaison between the manager and key subordinate staff members, ensuring understanding and clarification of manager's views on all problems and issues, and serving as a liaison with Headquarters and Program Officials.
- Act as office manager for the office, recommending changes in administrative policies, devising and installing office procedures and practices, personally handling various administrative projects, and performing necessary coordination, making contacts, obtaining comments from management officials, and preparing correspondence.
- Analyze incoming directives, manual issuances, policy changes, regulatory and procedural changes, alerting the manager to potential impact areas, and arranging for necessary follow-up technical review by an appropriate segment of the organization, ensuring follow-up action is accomplished, editing and offering critiques on organizational internal management documents, pointing out aspects such as lack of clarity or understandability, and questioning substantive content.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, providing proof of citizenship.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation, including a FBI criminal history record check.
- Telework eligible positions do not guarantee telework; employees must meet and sustain IRS telework eligibility requirements, reporting at least twice a pay period to their assigned Post of Duty, and receive supervisor's approval to participate in the IRS Telework Program.
Federal experience is not required; one year of experience refers to full-time work, part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week, on your resume.
To be eligible for this position, you must meet the basic requirements below:
- For GS-06: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) in the Federal government, related to the work of this position, and has provided you with the competencies required for successful job performance.
- For GS-07: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) in the Federal government, related to the work of this position, and has provided you with the competencies required for successful job performance.
