Join Virginia Peninsula Community College, a two-year institution of higher education, as an Academic Professional in Allied Health Nursing. This role offers the opportunity to teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semester, or up to 8 credit hours during the summer semester, with teaching load based on student enrollment and staffing needs.

The successful candidate will be part of a standing pool, drawn upon as scheduling needs dictate, with no guarantee of continued employment. Instruction may occur during the day, evening, or weekend, and may include lecture, lab, simulation, skills, and/or clinical courses in allied health - nursing studies programs, commensurate with experience, certification, qualification, and/or education.

Essential functions of this position include designing and delivering instruction for day and evening classes, responsible for student assessment and grading, maintaining adequate on-campus presence, and providing timely communication with students, staff, and administrators.

This Academic Professional may be required to perform other duties as assigned and may be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

The ideal candidate will possess a current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in Virginia or higher medical license (i.e., Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, or Medical Doctor), a Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing, Nursing Education, Nursing Administration, Health Informatics, or other related degree, as determined appropriate by the Nursing Department from a regionally accredited institution/program.

The preferred candidate will have current CPR certification and documentation of all routine healthcare employee immunizations, a passion for the discipline, and a commitment to a student-centered philosophy in support of academic excellence for diverse groups of learners.

A strong interest in teaching and inspiring adult learners is essential, as well as the ability to travel to both campuses and various clinical sites. The salary for this position is estimated at around $60,000 per year, based on the location and requirements of the job.
