Salary Range: $35.00 per hour

Position Overview

The Customer Service and Collections division of a distinguished academic medical institution dedicated to outstanding patient care. This role involves daily customer service operations within the centralized revenue cycle office, ensuring customer satisfaction through prompt and professional responses to inquiries and account balances.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the review and follow-up of numerous self-pay patient accounts to ensure timely resolution and payment.
  • Address account discrepancies, variances, and credit validation across various departments.
  • Review insurance claims and registration edits, tackle eligibility issues, and follow up on denied or rejected claims.
  • Establish and monitor patient payment plans, notifying management of any deviations.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of strategies aimed at reducing denials, maximizing reimbursements, and facilitating quicker payments.
  • Maintain a high standard of professionalism with patients, fostering a positive rapport with every interaction.
  • Act as a liaison between departments for billing of professional services.
  • Assist in training both current and new staff on departmental systems and policies.
  • Adhere to established institutional and departmental policies, objectives, and quality standards, while respecting patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as necessary.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required.
Experience

Approximately three years of experience in medical billing and collections, with a demonstrated understanding of medical terminology and third-party payer reimbursement processes, including Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and Commercial Insurance. Previous experience in an office environment is essential.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Experience with Epic or EMR systems is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
