Position Overview: Under the guidance of the Physician Revenue Realization Manager, the Insurance Follow-Up Representative plays a crucial role in managing claims status inquiries with insurance providers, rectifying and resubmitting denied claims within the EPIC billing system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts follow-up on all outstanding accounts assigned, adhering to established standards and procedures.
  • Identifies reasons for claim denials and initiates appeals as necessary.
  • Reviews and amends any rejections arising from electronic billing submissions, ensuring claims are corrected and resubmitted promptly.
  • Confirms the accuracy of patient insurance and demographic data.
  • Generates invoices for services not covered by insurance.
  • Investigates overpayments and takes appropriate actions to resolve discrepancies, including initiating refund requests per departmental protocols.
  • Responds courteously to inquiries from patients, insurance carriers, and external agencies.
  • Submits secondary claims to the appropriate payors.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Physician Billing, including insurance carrier follow-up and customer service, is essential.
  • Strong understanding of medical insurance and healthcare billing processes.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in accounts receivable systems and related applications.
  • Effective communication skills with insurance carriers, patients, and colleagues.
  • Ability to adhere to procedural guidelines and seek assistance when necessary.
