Mortgage Financing Advisor

GENERAL FUNCTION:
The role involves a comprehensive range of responsibilities related to the origination of residential first mortgage loans sourced from external referrals. You will be expected to meet the performance standards and objectives set by management for mortgage loan sales and cross-selling initiatives. You will take full ownership of the residential mortgage loan process from application through to closing.
It is essential to uphold accountability and manage risk by actively sharing insights and concerns, while adhering to established policies and procedures. Your commitment to ethical practices will ensure a positive experience for both customers and colleagues. Within the framework of the Bank's risk appetite, you will achieve results by effectively identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting various types of risks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish and nurture referral relationships with realtors, builders, and personal/professional contacts.
- Stay informed about Fifth Third Mortgage Company's policies and procedures.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of available loan products, processing protocols, and underwriting guidelines.
- Adhere to established protocols for handling exceptions.
- Process applicant applications using the Fannie Mae form 1003 on a laptop.
- Utilize technology for communication, accessing daily rates, applicant credit reports, Loan Prospector responses, and transmitting loans.
- Gather necessary documentation from applicants and ensure timely delivery of loan packages as per management expectations.
- Oversee the pipeline for all originated loans through to closing and complete requisite management reports.
- Provide timely updates and progress reports to branches and/or applicants.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while managing expectations of applicants and support staff.
- Participate in all Consumer Lending meetings as mandated by management.
- High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory; a four-year college degree is preferred.
- Familiarity with conventional and/or government lending guidelines.
- Understanding of residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.
- Knowledge of federal regulations governing real estate lending.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Demonstrated teamwork and customer service aptitude.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Basic sales techniques.
- A strong desire to succeed in a competitive landscape.
- This position requires S.A.F.E. Act registration at the time of employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).
