As a Residential Mortgage Consultant, your primary responsibilities will include sourcing and originating consumer-focused residential mortgage loans. You will engage with clients to solicit, receive, and process applications for credit aimed at purchasing or refinancing 1-4 unit residential properties, secured by a first-lien mortgage or deed of trust. Your role is crucial in ensuring an exceptional customer experience by managing the loan process from inception to closing, while maintaining ongoing communication with clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, along with company policies.
  • Reach out to potential clients to identify new business opportunities.
  • Consult with clients regarding their current and future financial needs and objectives.
  • Educate clients on the home purchase or refinancing process, discussing loan terms, rates, fees, and associated costs.
  • Collect client information and utilize your expertise to position clients in the best financial standing.
  • Process and receive applications for credit.
  • Initiate and oversee the loan process from application to closing using various systems.
  • Assist and maintain communication with clients throughout the loan process.
  • Meet with clients at various stages of the loan process as necessary.
  • Utilize resources and reference materials to provide accurate and current loan program information to clients and partners.
  • Ensure complete loan applications and supporting documents are submitted to fulfillment partners.
  • Promote both yourself and the company to enhance market share and achieve production targets.
  • Accurately record work hours to ensure proper payroll processing.
Qualifications and Educational Background:
  • Must be at least 18 years old and possess a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Proven ability to manage personal finances effectively.
  • Current Loan Originator license or eligibility to obtain one post-hire.
  • Maintain good standing for all licenses held.
  • Intermediate understanding of office practices and procedures.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Familiarity with document imaging technology.
  • Strong in-person and telephone communication skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Capability to build and sustain effective working relationships with colleagues and service providers.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with Loan Origination Systems and related software.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Consistently delivers outstanding customer service throughout the loan process.
  • Knowledge of loan products and programs from FNMA/FHLMC/GNMA/FHA/VA/USDA.
  • Experience with down payment assistance programs or specialized lending structures is advantageous.
  • Motivated to develop business within a supportive team environment.
