Role Overview: The Human Resources Generalist plays a pivotal role in the administration and oversight of HR policies and practices, ensuring adherence to applicable federal and state employment regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the execution of HR policies and initiatives for both unionized and non-unionized personnel within the Customer Service Center or local unit.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to manage HR policies concerning employee benefits, salary adjustments, retirement plans, and more.
  • Engage in sourcing, interviewing, and selecting qualified candidates for various roles.
  • Lead recruitment and retention efforts, including the development of staffing strategies and enhancement of recruitment channels; analyze metrics to optimize recruitment effectiveness.
  • Serve as the primary contact for union and non-union employees, aiding in the resolution of workplace concerns.
  • Assist in the management of grievance procedures as outlined in the Master National Agreement.
  • Support the implementation of random drug and alcohol testing programs as mandated by the Department of Transportation and other pre-employment screening processes.
  • Conduct audits of clerical functions to ensure accuracy and compliance with established standards.
  • Facilitate and deliver required training and development programs for employees.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of employee engagement initiatives.
  • Participate in unemployment hearings as necessary.
  • Assist with various HR-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or a related discipline is preferred, or equivalent experience is required.
  • One to four years of experience in human resources is essential.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, across all organizational levels.
  • Practical understanding of federal and state employment laws and their application in the workplace.
  • A collaborative team player with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
