Position Summary:

We invite you to become a part of our dedicated team as a Senior Real Estate Counsel at the Department of Fish and Wildlife. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for drafting, negotiating, and evaluating a variety of agreements related to real property. Your expertise will be essential in overseeing mitigation projects, performing legal research, providing guidance to senior leadership, managing Native American tribal issues, mentoring junior attorneys, and handling intricate litigation matters. Collaboration with the Office of the Attorney General on issues concerning Department lands will also be a key aspect of your role.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid California Bar License is required.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Capability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Awareness of when to escalate legal matters.

Work Environment:

This position maintains standard working hours with an expectation of flexibility for additional hours as necessary. The role may require prolonged periods of sitting and occasional travel within the state. A hybrid telework arrangement may be available based on operational needs.
