Business Development Manager - Full Truckload (FTL) Services

Position Overview

Are you an experienced sales expert specializing in Full Truckload (FTL) logistics? We are seeking a Business Development Manager who will spearhead the expansion of our FTL offerings by uncovering new business prospects, fostering robust client relationships, and crafting customized logistics solutions. If you possess a thorough knowledge of the FTL landscape and a successful history in logistics sales, this role could be an excellent fit for you.

Core Responsibilities

Market Development and Strategy

  • Formulate and execute a comprehensive business development strategy aimed at enhancing our FTL services across targeted markets.
  • Research market dynamics, customer requirements, and competitive positioning to identify and pursue new business opportunities in the FTL domain.
  • Establish and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective clients, concentrating on sectors with significant demand for FTL services.

Sales Leadership and Revenue Generation

  • Oversee the sales cycle from initial outreach to deal closure, ensuring the attainment of sales objectives and revenue enhancement.
  • Design and deliver tailored FTL logistics solutions that align with the unique needs of clients, fostering enduring business partnerships.
  • Negotiate and finalize contracts with clients, ensuring advantageous terms that support company goals.

Client Relationship Development

  • Build and sustain strong connections with key clients, serving as their primary liaison for FTL services.
  • Provide continuous support to clients, addressing their logistics requirements and resolving any challenges that may arise.
  • Conduct regular client reviews to ensure satisfaction and explore opportunities for additional services.

Collaboration and Teamwork

  • Coordinate closely with internal departments, including operations, customer service, and finance, to guarantee the effective delivery of FTL services.
  • Partner with the marketing team to create promotional strategies and materials that effectively showcase the advantages of our FTL services.
  • Offer insights to the operations team to refine service offerings and enhance customer satisfaction.

Performance Tracking and Analysis

  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to sales effectiveness, client acquisition, and market outreach.
  • Analyze sales metrics to discern trends, project future sales, and make informed decisions to propel business growth.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management regarding business development initiatives, market conditions, and potential challenges.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline. An advanced degree is advantageous.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience in business development or sales within the FTL logistics sector.
  • Demonstrated success in meeting sales targets and driving revenue growth in the FTL market.
  • Experience in negotiating and securing substantial logistics contracts.
  • Skills:
  • Comprehensive understanding of FTL logistics, transportation management, and supply chain operations.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Capability to develop and implement strategic sales initiatives.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
