Job Overview

The Manufacturing Operations Leader will manage all aspects of daily functions related to safety, workforce development, production, scheduling, and manufacturing within extrusion and converting operations, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures. This role is pivotal in driving initiatives that enhance safety, quality, and productivity while fostering robust relationships with plant personnel, customer service, and sales teams.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Leadership

  • Recruit, retain, develop, and mentor essential talent within the facility.
  • Guide and support the operations, scheduling, and process teams towards exceptional performance and professional advancement.
  • Own and implement world-class manufacturing processes and production systems.
  • Establish and maintain a succession plan within the designated organization.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing lean and six sigma methodologies.
  • Facilitate accountability measures to promote enhancements.
  • Oversee employee compliance with attendance, leave policies, and labor time management; ensure timely approvals.
  • Conduct performance management processes with Supervisors and assist in coordinating new employee evaluations.

Safety

  • Prioritize safety in all team operations and approaches to work.
  • Lead the team in developing and adhering to safety program elements.
  • Ensure all safety initiatives are implemented to meet safety objectives.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant safety regulations.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure adherence to standard work practices for quality and address any deviations.
  • Guarantee that process documentation is followed by production teams.

Financial Oversight

  • Understand and manage the plant's profit and loss, focusing on controllable and variable overhead to meet financial targets.
  • Monitor and enhance plant KPIs, including material usage variances, labor productivity, and inventory performance.
  • Maintain KPI reports and communicate findings with the facility.
  • Manage or assist with capital projects, prepare project proposals, and coordinate project meetings.

Success Metrics

  • High levels of employee engagement.
  • Achievement of safety, quality, and profitability targets by the operations team.
  • Meeting on-time delivery goals.
  • Minimized material variances and scrap rates, with high product quality levels.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years in a leadership role within manufacturing is required.
  • A bachelor's degree in business, operations, engineering, or a related field is essential.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operational facilities.
  • Understanding of profit and loss statements and business financials.
  • Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and solve problems with equipment.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing and operational processes.
  • Experience with SAP and/or other ERP systems is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in working with data files are necessary.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and SharePoint.

Compensation Overview

The estimated annual base pay range for this position is $100,000 - $115,000, plus potential bonuses. This range is based on an analysis of similar roles and may vary based on performance, proficiency, and demonstration of required competencies. The base salary is one component of Pregis' comprehensive compensation package, which includes competitive benefits and additional recognition opportunities.
