Position Overview:
This role is designed to support the VP Tax Manager with tax accounting responsibilities for the organization, focusing on tax compliance issues.
The position entails aiding in the interpretation, analysis, and provision of tax guidance and support to the VP Tax Manager concerning new and complex matters.
Coordination with external parties providing tax assistance will also fall under the purview of this role. This position will serve as a resource for ad hoc analyses related to cross-functional initiatives.Key Responsibilities:
Oversee tax compliance, ensuring timely submission of state and federal returns, tax payments, and coordination with external partners.
Assist with tax compliance and related accounting matters concerning new products/services and new accounting standards.
Support mergers and acquisitions from a tax perspective, focusing on due diligence and the appropriate tax treatment of transactions and ongoing compliance.
Ensure adherence to GAAP and SOX regulations concerning tax matters and controls.Foster an efficient and productive working environment within the department through effective communication with the VP Tax Manager.
Review journal entries and reconciliations as assigned, identify discrepancies, and collaborate across departments to resolve issues promptly.Ensure the accuracy of the fixed asset subledger, assist in identifying and rectifying discrepancies, and maintain precise records.
Aid in monitoring workflow to guarantee timely completion of tax obligations. Contribute to departmental process enhancements by seeking efficiencies, reducing errors, and ensuring quality control. Undertake special projects as assigned.Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred. A minimum of 4-5 years of experience in a tax-related role is desirable.
