The Tax Manager will be responsible for guiding clients on the tax implications of their business strategies, assessing and recommending alternatives to minimize tax liabilities and compliance costs, and serving as the primary contact for intricate tax matters. This role involves applying expertise to identify potential tax challenges, as well as recognizing and communicating risks and changes in tax legislation. Additionally, the Tax Manager will engage in networking and business development activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure clients adhere to all relevant regulations while minimizing tax and reporting obligations.
- Guarantee the tax team follows all Firm policies and standards.
- Identify when further research is necessary and clearly articulate issues for investigation; succinctly report findings.
- Build strong relationships with clients to address various federal tax matters.
- Assist in developing, recommending, and implementing effective strategies to maximize client benefits.
- Provide tax consultations and communicate complex tax concepts effectively.
- Enhance knowledge through continuous education, tax research, and trend analysis.
- Gain a thorough understanding of technical and practical issues related to specific areas of taxation.
- Manage engagement workflows, team resources, and billing processes.
- Lead and mentor the tax team, fostering their professional development.
- Offer constructive feedback to associates and senior associates.
- Deliver technical tax advice and planning services across various projects.
- Communicate with IRS and state and local tax authorities.
- 5 - 8 years of experience in taxation.
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Taxation, Accounting, or a related field.
- CPA certification is required.
- Experience in federal tax compliance, accounting, provisions, analysis, and research.
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project management capabilities.
- Attention to detail and a sense of ownership.
- Professionalism, integrity, and a positive demeanor.
- Proven success in business development and the ability to challenge clients to achieve their potential.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
