Position Overview: The Family Services Specialist II plays a crucial role in crafting and executing tailored service strategies across various domains including Employment Services, Child Care, Adult Protective Services, Child Protective Services, Foster Care, and Adoption Services. This position may involve a broad focus across multiple areas or a concentrated effort in specific sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interprets relevant laws, policies, and regulations;
  • Oversees and manages designated programs;
  • Facilitates service coordination;
  • Conducts interviews and evaluates client needs;
  • Educates clients on program guidelines;
  • Delivers comprehensive case management;
  • Administers program waiting lists;
  • Monitors expenditures and prepares financial forecasts;
  • Completes essential planning and reporting tasks;
  • Collaborates with other agencies;
  • Implements program oversight;
  • Acts as a resource for clients and the community;
  • Provides on-call support and responds to urgent situations.

Qualifications:

Knowledge: Understanding of social work principles, human behavior, and applicable laws and regulations.

Skills: Proficient in operating a motor vehicle and utilizing a personal computer.

Abilities: Strong communication, counseling, judgment, relationship-building skills, and a commitment to staying informed in the field.

Education and Experience: A Bachelor's degree in a Human Services discipline or a related field, along with relevant experience. A BSW or MSW degree and a Social Worker license are preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Child Welfare
  • Familiarity with Virginia Social Service Permanency
  • Proficient in using the OASIS database

Special Requirements: Participation in Emergency Duty (On-Call) may be necessary. Employees may be required to work additional hours based on departmental needs and emergencies.
