Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Services Specialist II to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. This role is responsible for providing comprehensive social services to individuals and families in need, with a focus on child welfare and family support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized service plans to address the unique needs of clients.
  • Provide case management services to monitor compliance and ensure the delivery of appropriate services.
  • Coordinate services with other agencies and participate in multi-disciplinary teams to provide comprehensive support.
  • Conduct assessments and interviews to determine client needs and develop service plans.
  • Monitor and track expenditures, prepare budget estimates, and ensure payment for services.
  • Complete necessary federal, state, and local planning and reporting requirements.
  • Provide after-hours on-call coverage and respond to emergencies in child and adult protective services.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a Human Services area, with a focus on child welfare and family support.
  • Knowledge of social work principles and practices, human behavior and motivational theory, and laws and regulations related to human services.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to develop and implement service plans.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on providing excellent customer service.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in child welfare and family support services.
  • Knowledge of the OASIS database and other relevant software systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
