Job Summary:

The Director, Strategic Portfolio Management is responsible for leading the Technology portfolio management function at Sysco Northeast Rdc. This role provides guidance to technology leadership and other executives on the timing and anticipated value of initiatives and investments, tracks progress, and helps to identify potential conflicts and dependencies to streamline execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership in the strategic planning process, giving guidance and input into the organization's ability to realize strategies through investment appraisals, prioritization, and resource planning.
  • Aligns the technology portfolio of work to the business strategy, acting as a thought leader and change agent in establishing an organization-wide strategy for unified portfolio, program, and project management.
  • Provides regular updates on portfolio performance and value delivery, implementing standards for monitoring progress against defined outcome measures.
  • Continuously improves portfolio processes and systems to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Implements standards to support portfolio development and execution, including cross-functional huddles to enhance coordination across initiatives.
  • Hires, leads, manages, coaches, develops, and evaluates direct and indirect reports.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject area.
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience in the management of strategic portfolio, strategic execution, and/or program/project delivery services.
  • At least 3 years of experience in quantitative portfolio management, leading and managing large-scale programs, and knowledge of agile models.
  • At least 2 years of experience negotiating with outside vendors, including contracts and resolving service issues.
  • Experience developing strategic initiatives that align with business goals and budget.
  • Experience working with technology organizations, including software development, infrastructure, digital, and data management teams.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing teams of 5 or more individuals.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially PowerPoint, with a focus on data visualization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts.
  • Demonstrated creativity, flexibility, and innovative problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to operate in high-pressure situations and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational skills and a commitment to quality and excellence.
