Position Title:

Manager, Talent & Employee Relations

Job Overview:

The Manager of Talent and Employee Relations plays a pivotal role in steering the talent acquisition processes and managing employee relations within the organization. This individual is expected to demonstrate strategic insight and a deep commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace culture. The role involves building and nurturing effective relationships with employees, leadership, and labor organizations, while also supervising designated HR professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide expert HR consultation across various areas, including talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, and retention strategies.

2. Lead and implement HR initiatives that align with the organization's strategic goals, focusing on enhancing the candidate and employee experience while promoting diversity.

3. Act as a primary contact for employee relations concerns, offering guidance and support to staff and faculty.

4. Conduct thorough investigations into employee grievances and managerial concerns, recommending suitable resolutions.

5. Collaborate with the Director of Human Resources on labor relations, including meetings with union leadership and overseeing contractual obligations.

6. Ensure compliance with policies regarding wages, hours, and working conditions in accordance with labor contracts.

7. Assist in the planning and execution of HR programs, events, and communications.

8. Provide leadership and support to HR team members in their roles and projects.

9. Foster a collaborative and accountable work environment through emotionally intelligent leadership.

10. Manage designated budget areas and ensure compliance with procurement policies.

11. Develop and deliver training sessions to diverse audiences.

12. Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

13. Analyze employee data to assess trends in recruitment, turnover, and diversity initiatives.

14. Coordinate communication across stakeholders regarding service/project statuses and pending issues.

15. Educate and mentor HR staff on best practices related to talent acquisition and employee engagement.

16. Document processes and investigations effectively.

17. Participate in internal and external committees as necessary.

18. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or a related field.

2. A minimum of five years of relevant HR experience, including roles in Talent Acquisition and Employee Relations.

3. At least two years of supervisory or management experience.

4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS applications.

5. Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

6. Advanced knowledge of employment law and HR policies.

7. Ability to build effective working relationships across the organization.

8. Commitment to the core values of respect, inclusion, and collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Master's degree in a related field.

2. Experience in HR management within higher education.

3. Relevant HR certifications.

4. Experience with change management and HR systems.

Physical Demands:

1. Standard office physical demands.

2. Ability to travel as required.
