Job Overview

The Senior Process Engineer at Axens North America will take on a pivotal role in overseeing process engineering activities and guiding project teams in the development of comprehensive design packages, technical studies, and proposals. This position requires minimal oversight from management, allowing for independent decision-making and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining detailed process documentation, including:
    • Designing flow schemes
    • Simulating process units
    • Creating Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Material Flow Diagrams (MFDs), and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
    • Specifying equipment, piping, and instrumentation
    • Reviewing and validating the work of junior engineers
  • Demonstrating expertise in material selection for diverse applications and technologies.
  • Understanding system engineering requirements and their implications.
  • Authoring process documentation and operational guidelines.
  • Providing support to Technology Experts and Technical Services personnel on-site.
  • Leading the development of technical proposals and executing process studies aimed at technology enhancements.
  • Participating in the commissioning of industrial facilities and training client personnel.
  • Contributing to the creation of methods, standards, and procedures documentation.
  • Optimizing industrial processes from conception through to startup.
  • Assessing unit performance through data collection and analysis.
  • Managing projects effectively, ensuring clear communication throughout all phases of process implementation.
  • Implementing process control standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Exhibiting proficiency in compliance with Design & Development Procedures.
  • Utilizing advanced Process Engineering tools and simulation software.
  • Leading revamp projects and assuming project management responsibilities for studies and smaller initiatives.
  • Evaluating product pools and providing process engineering support to Technical Services or operational units.
  • Applying safety methodologies and conducting reviews, including Process Hazards Analysis and Layers of Protection Analysis.
  • Understanding project economic analysis and utilizing economic models.
  • Willingness to travel globally up to 20% of the time.
  • Conducting regular communications with clients and engineering procurement contractors.
  • Familiarity with the Management of Change process.
Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering is required; a Master's degree is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of ten years of experience in the refining or petrochemical industry, with a proven ability to manage multiple assignments independently and take on the role of Lead Engineer and process supervisor.
