The Senior Storage Engineer will play a pivotal role within the Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS) division, managing extensive storage systems that are essential for various research initiatives. Reporting directly to the Director of Compute, Storage, Backup, and Automation, the Engineer will be instrumental in furthering the organization's objectives through advanced IT solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee upgrades and maintenance of storage systems, ensuring operational continuity and adherence to security standards.
- Partner with stakeholders to establish strategic plans and manage substantial storage frameworks.
- Automate processes and develop scripts to enhance operational efficiency.
- Support the implementation and assessment of modifications to systems.
- Ensure alignment with management protocols and policies.
- Optimize file storage systems for maximum availability and performance.
- Collaborate with teams to effectively integrate and manage distinct components.
- Engage with external vendors for hardware and software enhancements.
- Uphold data security and confidentiality in line with organizational policies.
- Enhance technical knowledge and remain informed about emerging technologies.
- Participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.
Essential Qualifications
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in file storage technologies.
- At least 3 years of experience in object storage technologies.
- Comprehensive understanding of storage architecture and testing methodologies.
- Expertise in deploying and managing storage hardware.
- Experience in customer support and scripting capabilities.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with the ITIL framework.
- Experience within the Higher Education sector.
- Knowledge of Enterprise Backup and Hypervisor technologies.
- Understanding of cloud-based systems and Agile methodologies.
