Position Overview

The Department of Pediatrics at Emory University is in search of a Clinical Research Nurse II to contribute to a five-year, externally funded initiative aimed at enhancing health outcomes for children and adolescents affected by sickle cell disease. This initiative is part of a broader quality improvement strategy focusing on health education, which includes the creation of innovative educational resources, as well as the integration of data between Epic EMR and existing registries to optimize patient outcomes for sickle cell disease. The project emphasizes both disease-modifying and curative therapies and necessitates collaboration with the Sickle Cell Disease and SCD-focused Blood & Marrow Transplant program teams.

Key Responsibilities: Coordinate, implement, and assess clinical research trials, studies, and projects. Provide guidance in the formulation of research protocols. Recruit and evaluate potential study participants, and develop and deliver patient and family education accordingly. Manage financial accounts to ensure operations adhere to approved budgets. Conduct patient assessments, administer medications and research instruments, and offer nursing support for specialized diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures. Refer to in-house or community professionals and serve as a clinical resource. Collect data, assist in developing data collection systems, and compile reports. May perform infusion duties. Assist in drafting research grants, publications in medical and nursing literature, study materials, brochures, and correspondence. Provide direction and may supervise other Research Nurses or support staff. Perform related responsibilities as necessary. Employees in this role may be required to work with, take specific precautions against, and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.
Minimum Qualifications: Must be a licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia with three years of relevant nursing experience. Must be credentialed through Emory Healthcare under the RN II category.
