Position Overview
The Department of Pediatrics at Emory University is in search of a Clinical Research Nurse II to engage in a 5-year, externally funded initiative aimed at enhancing health outcomes for children and adolescents suffering from sickle cell disease. This initiative is part of a quality improvement strategy focusing on health education, which includes the creation of innovative educational resources, and the integration of data between Epic EMR and existing registries to optimize patient outcomes for sickle cell disease. The project emphasizes both disease-modifying and curative treatments and will necessitate collaboration with the Sickle Cell Disease and SCD-focused Blood & Marrow Transplant program teams.
Epic Certification is required; if not certified, the candidate must be prepared to initiate the certification process upon employment. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting within the system will be essential.
Key Responsibilities:Coordinate, implement, and assess clinical research trials, studies, and projects.Guide the development of research protocols.Recruit and screen potential study participants, providing education to patients and families as needed.Manage financial accounts to ensure operations remain within approved budgets.Conduct patient evaluations, administer medications and research instruments, and provide nursing support for specialized diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures.Make referrals to in-house or community professionals and serve as a clinical resource.Collect data, assist in developing data collection systems, and compile reports.May provide infusion duties as required.Assist in writing research grants, publications in medical and nursing literature, study materials, brochures, and correspondence.Provide guidance and may supervise other Research Nurses or support staff.Perform related responsibilities as necessary.Employees in this role may be required to work with, take specific precautions against, and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.
Minimum Qualifications:Must be a licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia with three years of relevant nursing experience.Must be credentialed through Emory Healthcare under the category of RN II.
