About the Role: Acumen Group is seeking a skilled actuary to enhance its footprint in the U.S. life insurance sector. This pivotal role offers the chance to collaborate with clients, pricing actuaries, data scientists, and underwriters to foster innovation and research in risk assessment methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advance the development of cutting-edge mortality assumption methodologies for life underwriting initiatives utilizing sophisticated statistical and predictive modeling techniques.
- Provide expert advice to pricing actuaries and clients regarding the integration of third-party scores, tools, and data into life underwriting practices.
- Work alongside a global data science team, offering subject matter expertise and strategic guidance tailored to the U.S. market.
- Assess models through the application of data analytics and actuarial methodologies.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the U.S. life insurance or reinsurance industry.
- Fellowship of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) preferred; Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) with ongoing exam progress required.
- Strong understanding of predictive modeling concepts and machine learning techniques.
- Current knowledge of trends in automated and accelerated life underwriting.
- Familiarity with life pricing and/or product development is advantageous.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Advanced Excel.
- Hands-on experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power-BI, and programming languages like R, Python, and/or SQL is preferred.
