Equitable has undergone a significant agile transformation known as New Ways of Working. The actuarial team was among the pioneers of this initiative, contributing to the Finance Modernization project. The remaining teams have since embraced this new methodology through the establishment of the Actuarial Center of Excellence. Under the leadership of our Chief Actuary, this Center integrates corporate actuaries engaged in valuation, model development, assumption setting, regulatory oversight, governance, and financial reporting.

This position is integral to the Regulatory and Actuarial Methodology team within the Actuarial Center of Excellence, reporting directly to the Head of Regulatory and Actuarial Methodology. The successful candidate will be responsible for (1) establishing actuarial methodologies for new products and reinsurance agreements, (2) tracking and influencing regulatory changes related to US GAAP, Statutory, Tax, and RBC standards, and (3) documenting and conveying these requirements to essential internal stakeholders. This role offers opportunities to engage in significant company-wide initiatives and make a meaningful impact on both the organization and the broader industry.

A successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in navigating a matrixed organization and possess a proven ability to foster collaboration and execute projects across various teams.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring and analyzing pivotal regulatory changes within the life insurance sector concerning GAAP, Statutory, Tax, and RBC valuation frameworks.
  • Establishing corporate methodologies and practices in response to critical new regulatory requirements for both new and existing products and transactions, including US GAAP and US STAT.
  • Representing the organization in various industry forums (e.g., ACLI subcommittees).
  • Contributing to the creation of comprehensive actuarial documentation regarding GAAP, Statutory, Tax, and RBC methodologies for both emerging and established requirements.
  • Collaborating with diverse internal stakeholders to ensure methodologies are accurately represented throughout the organization.
  • Facilitating training for the Company's actuaries on regulatory updates and their implications for the organization.
  • Engaging in discussions with external auditors to reach consensus on established actuarial methodologies.
  • Assisting senior management and board communications regarding regulatory updates.

The total targeted compensation range for this position is $150,000 - $195,000. Total compensation varies based on skills, experience, geographical location, and other factors.
