Position: Sign Language Interpreter

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver interpretation and translation services utilizing American Sign Language (ASL) for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Enhance communication between students, educators, and administrative staff.
  • Interpret educational instructions, discussions, presentations, and other instructional materials.
  • Assist students in engaging with various school activities, including assemblies, excursions, and extracurricular programs.
  • Work collaboratively with educators and school leaders to promote the inclusion and achievement of students with hearing challenges.

Required Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) or equivalent qualifications.
  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and fluent in English.
  • Preferred experience in an educational interpreting role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Understanding of deaf culture and awareness of the specific needs of students with hearing impairments.
  • Capability to adapt swiftly to diverse educational settings and collaborate effectively within a team.
