Mandarin Language Support Assistant

Key Responsibilities and Goals
- Fosters and promotes student success through Positive Behavior supports and Restorative Practices
- Reinforces instructional content delivered by educators by providing individualized or small group assistance
- Facilitates or co-facilitates lessons as needed
- Aids educators with administrative tasks, including attendance tracking and grade calculations
- Actively monitors students during class, transitions, lunch, recess, and field trips
- Collaborates with parents or guardians, educators, counselors, and administrators to address and support students' behavioral and academic needs; and synchronize instructional efforts.
- Participates in Professional Development and performs additional duties as assigned
- Provides proof of highly qualified status for teaching assistant roles
- Serves as a substitute teacher for other classroom educators, teaching assistants, or staff as required
- Engages as a constructive member of a dynamic international school community and culture
- Treats students and staff with respect, fairness, and kindness
- Ensures that the target language is utilized by students in the classroom at all times
Essential Qualifications
- Experience working with children in grades K-4
- Proficient in Mandarin Chinese
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Mandarin Chinese, or a related field preferred; a minimum of 48 completed credit hours of higher education required
- Preference will be given to candidates who have successfully completed the Elementary PLACE or Praxis test
- Regularly required to stand and walk while teaching, escorting classes, and supervising
- May be required to lift up to 20 lbs
- Spend extended periods outdoors during arrival, dismissal, and recess
