Job Summary:

The Research Scientist I - Cardiovascular and Metabolism Research Assistant will assist Dr. Trott, Assistant Professor, Department of Kinesiology, with research studies and day-to-day laboratory tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with all aspects of laboratory duties, including general inventory of supplies, mouse husbandry and colony maintenance, design and conduct of quantitative PCR assays, data collection and analysis, and maintenance of research records.
  • Conduct research in a wet lab environment, with a focus on cardiovascular and metabolism research.
  • Collaborate with the research team to design and implement research studies, collect and analyze data, and present findings.
  • Develop and maintain laboratory protocols and procedures, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical support to students and other researchers, and assist with training and development of laboratory staff.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Kinesiology, Bioengineering, or a related science field, or the equivalent experience.
  • Research experience in a wet lab environment, with a focus on cardiovascular and metabolism research.
  • Experience with quantitative PCR assays, mouse husbandry and colony maintenance, and data collection and analysis.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field, or a Ph.D. in a related field.
  • Experience with grant writing and research funding.
  • Publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
