Job Summary

The MetroHealth System is seeking a highly skilled Translation Services Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our Language Access Services Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our patients, families, and staff receive accurate and timely translation services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate complex translation activities and projects, serving as a liaison between translation service requestors, the Language Access Services Department, and external translation vendors.
  • Provide language translation services for patients, families, visitors, clinicians, and staff, ensuring that all communications are conveyed in a complete, accurate, and culturally sensitive manner.
  • Support the delivery of interpretation services, providing in-person, telephone, and video interpreter services as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement language access strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external translation vendors, ensuring high-quality services and timely delivery.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Translation, or a related field.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish, with the ability to interpret and translate complex medical terminology.
  • Proven experience in a linguistic and cultural position, with a strong understanding of medical terminology and anatomy.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Advanced computer, software, and equipment skills, including electronic medical record systems and document management software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Linguistics, Translation, or a related field.
  • Certified Medical Interpreter or Translator through a recognized accrediting organization.
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting, with a strong understanding of medical terminology and anatomy.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day.
  • Ability to see in the normal visual range with or without correction.
  • Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
  • Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications.
