Communications and Media Relations Specialist

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Craft, revise, and finalize various communication materials, including press releases, media outreach documents, external communications, surveys, social media content, and summaries for articles and speaking engagements.
  • Manage media relations and nurture external partnerships.
  • Support the PR Manager in formulating strategies and plans to enhance media and public relations efforts.
  • Collaborate across designated markets to discover earned media prospects and approach local media channels.
  • Prepare legal professionals and consultants for media engagements, including developing talking points and providing media training.
  • Monitor relevant award opportunities and legal/business surveys across all firm markets, ensuring the communications team is informed of impending deadlines.
  • Assist the social media manager in creating and disseminating content as required.
  • Coordinate with the PR team to manage timelines and submissions for various legal directories and rankings.
  • Undertake special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or English is preferred.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in writing and editing materials.
  • At least four years of experience in public relations.
  • Experience in managing communication projects, including substantial writing and editing, planning, and utilizing content across various communication channels.
  • Strong writing and editing capabilities, with familiarity with AP style.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in a law firm or other professional services environment is preferred.
