The Chief Operations Officer is fully accountable for overseeing the management of the Assisted Living, Independent Living, Memory Care community and/or Skilled Nursing Facility.

This role ensures the delivery of exceptional resident care services, adhering to budgetary constraints, while meeting or surpassing the standards set by Opportunities, and is responsible for compliance with all relevant federal, state, local, and organizational policies, procedures, and regulations.

The Chief Operations Officer is expected to lead the community by example, demonstrating the CORE Values through a commitment to servant leadership.


Key Responsibilities:


Internal Community Relations:


Designs and executes community resident relations initiatives; gathers feedback from residents, families, and stakeholders to enhance community hospitality and services.

Establishes strong relationships with other department heads to ensure high-quality resident care while promoting inter-departmental collaboration.

Supervises and evaluates nursing services (if applicable) to guarantee effective nursing delivery systems.

Monitors resident care on a daily basis; conducts regular rounds; implements quality assurance measures across all departments.

Builds positive relationships with regulatory agencies; stays informed on changes in federal, state, and local regulations.

Oversees the management of the community's facilities.


Directs community safety and loss prevention initiatives; ensures compliance with safety regulations and takes corrective actions as needed.

Communicates with residents' families when changes in services are required. Leads and participates in resident/family meetings to discuss service modifications.

Ensures a high level of customer satisfaction.

Assists in the formulation of the community's budget.


Makes final decisions regarding resident admissions and discharges based on the well-being of the resident and in accordance with community policies and procedures.


Financial Management:
Plans and develops the operational budget in line with organizational guidelines.

Regularly reviews departmental performance and analyzes the community's financial status, taking corrective actions when necessary.

Prepares for and participates in monthly financial review meetings as scheduled.

Trains community management in relevant cost control strategies.

Oversees and manages community inventory control systems.

Responsible for the management of all contracted services.

Marketing:
Maintains a high occupancy rate within the community.

Associate Relations:
Oversees the recruitment, selection, retention, and termination processes for all community associates.

Ensures comprehensive orientation and training for community-specific job responsibilities.

Supervises and assesses all community managers, providing ongoing coaching and timely feedback.

Ensures that all associates meet or exceed the organization's standards for appearance, sanitation, and health.

Establishes positive associate relations programs, recognition initiatives, and best practices.

Oversees and manages community compensation, recommending salary adjustments when necessary.

Ensures that all staff maintain and protect the confidentiality of resident information at all times.


Provides an open-door policy for associates and addresses any concerns and grievances promptly and in accordance with company standards.

Ensures appropriate handling of on-the-job injuries as reported by associates.

Provides leadership and direction in marketing the community, including developing relationships with local referral sources. Represents the community to the public, family members, and visitors, fostering positive relations with all stakeholders.

Becomes familiar with and understands how to report a missing person using the Safe Return program or equivalent.

Becomes familiar with and understands the procedures for fire evacuation.

All associates are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all community residents.

Qualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree.

Current ECC and/or CORE Training certification as required and/or Community Residential Care Facility Administration (CRCF).

Strong leadership capabilities with a minimum of two (2) years' experience in supervision and management.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook software. Mid-level typing skills required.

Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, associates, residents, family members, and external contacts.

Able to perform calculations involving discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, etc. Capable of managing revenue and expense budgets.

Knowledge of current Federal and State laws pertaining to IL, AL, MC, SNF communities respectively.

Able to make independent decisions.

Must possess a passion for working with and around senior citizens.
