Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the maintenance and functionality of all equipment on the property, including the building's infrastructure. This encompasses HVAC systems, fire alarm systems, boilers, primary and secondary electrical systems, and emergency power generators.
- Ensure the visual appeal of both the interior and exterior of the hotel, regularly assessing renovation projects and coordinating labor and materials for upgrades.
- Schedule team members to guarantee 24/7 coverage for preventative maintenance of the building and equipment, including external utilities such as water, electricity, gas, and sewage, as well as internal systems.
- Develop work schedules based on projected occupancy levels.
- Implement policies aimed at promoting energy efficiency throughout the hotel.
- Conduct regular departmental meetings and training sessions aligned with Auro Hotels' standards and brand guidelines, focusing on maintenance practices and safe handling of cleaning agents.
- Ensure compliance with Auro Hotels' standards and brand expectations in all physical areas of the hotel, including outdoor spaces.
- Monitor adherence to state building codes, OSHA regulations, and fire safety standards.
- Collaborate with department heads, organizing departmental and supervisory meetings as needed.
- Supervise any new construction projects, liaising with designers, architects, contractors, and utility providers, as well as working with department heads on budget preparation.
- Coordinate emergency procedures in partnership with the General Manager, developing an effective emergency response plan and conducting staff training on emergency systems and equipment.
- Maintain open communication with the General Manager regarding any significant issues or concerns.
- Conduct performance evaluations for all direct reports as necessary.
A high school diploma is required. A minimum of two years of experience in a Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer role is preferred. Familiarity with food and beverage equipment is a plus. Certifications in key engineering disciplines (electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing) are preferred. Experience with pools, spas, air conditioning, drywall, and plumbing is essential.
