Huntsville, Alabama, United States Leidos Holding Full time

The Defense Systems Sector is in search of a skilled Systems Engineer to be part of a multifaceted team dedicated to developing innovative solutions for intricate challenges. With a presence across the United States, we engage in defense, aerospace, cybersecurity, and commercial sectors, delivering responsive and cost-efficient engineering, scientific, and IT solutions.

The Model-Based Systems Engineer will operate within a matrixed organization, supporting various programs simultaneously across diverse engineering domains and team dynamics. From large-scale initiatives where Leidos is the primary contractor, such as advanced weaponry programs, to smaller projects where we act as a subcontractor to leading defense contractors, the Systems Engineer will play a crucial role. Specifically, the Systems Engineer will contribute to the Enduring Shield Program , a mobile ground-based system designed to counter cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles. This program is part of the Enduring Indirect Fire Protection Capability initiative, safeguarding both civilian and military infrastructures and bridging the gap between tactical short-range air defense systems and strategic systems. Upon completion of the program, the Systems Engineer will have the opportunity to transition to other projects within the Leidos - Dynetics portfolio. Candidates with expertise in areas such as Model-Based Systems Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Risk Management, and Reliability Analysis will be given preference, although a solid foundation in traditional systems engineering is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities

The Systems Engineer will oversee the management of requirements specifications based on customer needs for the Enduring Shield Program . The selected individual will collaborate with government clients, program management, cost accounting, subcontractors, and design engineers to fulfill the systems engineering requirements throughout the design lifecycle. This includes performing requirements verification, assisting in the development of testing programs, and maintaining configuration management. Additionally, the chosen candidate will be responsible for contributing to regular deliverables for the customer, including addressing their feedback.

Basic Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution, along with 4+ years of relevant experience or 2+ years with a Master's degree.
